Blognews – What do you want to know from Wargaming?

As some of you might know, one of, if not THE biggest gaming convention Gamescom will be held in Cologne, Germany 17.-21. August. We already do have tickets and are in the process of organising a meeting with Wargaming people to throw some questions their way. This is were you come in. What do you want to know from Wargaming regarding their games? We still got plenty of time to collect questions. You can post them in the comments of our blog or send PMs via the Wargaming forums (my accounts on EU Forum, NA Forum, ASIA Forum). Please write in English (or German), otherwise it will be hard for me to understand what you want to know. Also, Facebook doesn’t make it all that easy to follow what people write where, so I am not sure if I will be able to track this as well. In the end, the blog is your best chance if you want to get involved in this, but I will be checking the Forum PMs as well on a regular basis.

One thing, though: From our experience, they will not give answers to questions like “When will nation X come? When will ship/tank/plane/whatever Y come?”. Questions to that effect can unfortunately not be considered.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada – Let’s move deeper into the Gothic sector

Tindalos Entertainment just told the community about their plans for the future of the game

Spoiler: TAU INCOMING!!!111

Greeting Admirals,

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada released one week ago, and its success was beyond our most optimistic expectations. We planned an original development budget based on expected revenues, but these revenues have been largely overtaken. Because of this, we’ve been working with our publisher Focus Home Interactive to plan several major additions to our game, to offer you the best possible experience as well as exceptional content. This new content will require a future development plan that will keep the Tindalos teams busy for all of 2016.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada – WHAAAAAG!

Communique from Romain Clavier (Game Directorof Tinadalos):

“It’s a huge pleasure for a young studio like ours to see Battlefleet Gothic gather so much interest from so many players. The beta has been incredibly helpful in spotting relevant demands from the community. Following this huge response we’ve made the decision to spend some additional time integrating your feedback into the game. As a consequence, we will release Battlefleet Gothic: Armada on April 21st.

Quickest way to upload screenshots: puush

I was just shown this neat little tool and personally, I think uploading screenshots could not possibly be easier. You want to share your awesome game result screen with your mates? You want to document chat? You want to take pictures of your fleet? Puush is the most convenient way to do it. You just need to register to be able to download it, everything else is pretty much self-explaining.

[] Compressed textures WoWs for slow computers or computers without SSD

Thought this might be interesting for those of you guys who happen to play on older Hardware. The guys over at modsworldofwarships made a modpack which reduces the quality of the textures but thus allows you to enjoy faster loading times.

[] Compressed textures WoWs for slow computers or computers without SSD 2

[] Compressed textures WoWs for slow computers or computers without SSD

Textures are compressed to 50, 25 and 12.5% of their original compression and you can install all of them or separatelly for environment or ships. New compressed textures do not change original WoWs textures – they are installed in res_mods folder.

Author has measured WoWs loading times of port after login into game with and without using compressed textures on his home computer and here are his results:

Clean client – 43 seconds
50% quality of textures – 35 seconds
25% quality of textures – 27 seconds
12.5% quality of textures – 11 seconds

The comparison of original and modified WoWs client you may see at next screenshots published by author.

Faster game/battle loading
Faster port loading after login/battle
Faster ship switching in port
Fewer lags caused by loading graphic elements during battle
Consuming less computer resources than original client

Lower graphics quality (depends on quality of used compressed textures)

Conclusion: It is a very good package for players with weaker computers, especially without SSD or with small amount of RAM/graphics memory. To players with powerful computers this package will not bring a real benefit.

Installation: Unpack downloaded archive into appropriate folder in res_mods

Textures for ships are stored in “World_of_Warships\res_mods\\content\gameplay”. In all other folders are being stored environment textures.
It is highly recommended to switch-off your internet browser during playing WoWs. Internet browser can drastically decrease performance of your computer.

Warhammer 40K – Battlefleet Gothic: Armada

Yes, this one is not about a Wargaming title. I’ve been a fan of the Warhammer universe for more than 15 years now and although I don’t actively play the board game these days, I’m still reading novels and am generally interested in the universe. With Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, we get to play a game which unfortunately was not overly successful when it first hit the boardgame market. However, I do believe it does make a tremendous PC game. Personally, I am very much looking forward to this and could not be hyped more. If you guys out there are interested in Warhammer 40K and naval action, this might be worth a look.

There is a host of Youtube reviews out there, so you can form your own opinion. There is also an offer where you get the first DLC (Space Marine fleets) for free if you buy the game up to two months after release. Personally, I consider that a fair offer as you don’t have to pre-order the game (Something I have learned the hard way not to do again. Ever.) to get that kind of bonus. Again, might be worth a look or two.
